Dublin Bikes on Google Maps

Dublin Bikes uses Google Maps to show the location of all the hire network's bike stations.

It is possible to search the map by location to find the nearest bike hire stations to your location. If you click on a map marker you can view how many bikes are currently available and how many free stands are available.

DHO: DIscovery

Ireland's Digital Humanities Project is using Google Maps and the Simile Time-Line as a way to browse Irish digital collections and resources.

You can select to view a collection from the drop-down menu. Once you have selected a collection you can choose to browse the collection in a Google Maps view or on a time-line.

The map view obviously depends on whether location data has been added to individual collections.

Dublin Journey Planner on Google Maps

Hit the Road

Hit the Road is a route planner for Dublin that shows you how to get between any two points in the city by bus, Luas and DART routes.

It is possible to find a route by either dropping map markers on the map to show your start and finish points or by entering addresses in the search boxes. Possible routes are then displayed on the map and the steps on the journey are displayed in the map side panel.

Alternative routes are indicated by numbered icons in the side panel. If you roll over one of these icons the alternate route is automatically displayed on the map. All the suggested routes tell you which number buses to take and give the estimated journey time.

Irish Mileage Calculator uses Google Maps

MileageSheet

Least week I posted about Tripcatcher a Google Maps based mileage logger for the UK. MileageSheet provides a very similar service for Ireland.

MileageSheet allows you to manage mileage rates, subsistence rates and expenses. The application allows the user to create routes and record journeys. It can then calculate distances and work out the mileage expenses.

MileageSheet can record employee information that is required by the Irish Revenue Commissioners and keep track of their expenses. It can also review employees' mileage sheets and the amounts payable according to their assigned schemes.

Find a House in Ireland with Google Maps

MyHome.ie

MyHome.ie is a nicely designed Google Maps mashup to display property for sale in Ireland.

You can search the map for property by location, price, type of property and by the number of bedrooms. The returned results are then displayed on the map. If you click on a property's map marker you can view a photo and a brief description. The information window also contains a link to view the full details of the property.

MyHome.ie also allows you to search for rental and commercial property in Ireland. There is even a function to view overseas property, which shows properties on the market mainly in the south of France and northern Spain.
